Most people who call our office want help with getting healthy and staying healthy. Maybe you have explored many other options with no success. Or, maybe we are the first health care provider you have asked for help. Either way, you want answers to the following questions:
What is wrong with me (or my child)? Let’s start with what is RIGHT. Each of us is born with the ability to self-heal and self-regulate. If you cut your finger, it heals. While you are sleeping, your heart still beats and your lungs still breathe. When you want to pick up a baby or hug someone special, your body performs its daily tasks without complaint. Except when it doesn’t, and then you naturally start to worry. So what can go WRONG? You can temporarily lose the ability to self-heal and self-regulate. You may notice pain, stiffness, digestive problems, poor sleeping, and/or attention difficulties, for example. This loss of coordination is the result of physical, emotional, and chemical stresses that are part of modern living. The NERVOUS SYSTEM controls your body’s healing and regulation. It is your communication superhighway. Information needs to flow back and forth between your brain to your muscles, organs, and other body parts. This information is so important, the organs (brain and spinal cord) that send it are protected by bone (skull and spine).
Excess physical, emotional, and chemical stresses cause INTERFERENCE in nervous system function. Think of how frustrating it is to have a conversation when there is static in your cell phone signal. When your nervous system is malfunctioning, you will notice frustrations in your body (symptoms). We chiropractors call this nervous system interference VERTEBRAL SUBLUXATION. We identify vertebral subluxation through several signs:
- Limited spinal joint motion
- Postural distortions (text neck)
- Pain and sensitivity to touch
- Abnormal spinal heat patterns
- Muscular imbalances
- Distorted spinal reflexes
Can you help me or my child? Chiropractors specialize in the detection and correction of vertebral subluxation. The goal is to restore normal nervous system function. For example, when your computer freezes due to a temporary glitch, you reboot it. Chiropractic adjustments have a similar intent, but it requires time and repetition for the body to adopt and maintain a higher state of function. We see positive results for the overwhelming majority of our clients. You may note improvements in areas that you didn’t expect. The odds are highly in your favor that we can help to transform your health.
How long will it take? Most people notice a difference immediately after their first adjustment, such as increased range of motion. Progress depends on the length of time you’ve been having symptoms and the amount of physical, chemical, and mental stresses in your life. Typically, it takes several weeks of care for significant improvement regarding headaches, ADHD, chronic pain, sciatica, numbness, tingling, balance issues, or digestive problems.
When will I be done? We recommend that you adopt chiropractic care as a health habit. Getting checked regularly, and adjusted if needed, will maximize the function of your nervous system. This leads to better performance, resilience, and well-being. Chiropractic is a preventive approach to enjoying a higher state of health.
