There is an inner intelligence in your body, and that inner intelligence is consciousness. It’s the ultimate in supreme genius, which mirrors the wisdom of the universe. – Deepak Chopra
This concept is something chiropractors have known for more than 100 years. In our profession, we use the term innate intelligence to describe the part of universal consciousness – or God, if you prefer – that permeates all matter and gives it organization. It is the difference between a collection of disorganized carbon atoms and a diamond, to use a chemically simple example. It is innate intelligence that links us to our environment by interpreting our surroundings (a brisk gust of wind, stalled traffic up ahead) and integrating an appropriate response by the body’s systems (divert blood from fingers to internal organs, focus on visual input and ramp up fight-or-flight response).
The purpose of chiropractic care is to reduce interference to the nervous system so the body’s innate intelligence can operate without interruptions and distortions. This can result in a higher level of functioning and increased resilience to the stresses of daily life. In plain terms, people under regular chiropractic care report increased energy, more vibrant metabolism, higher mental clarity, and stronger immune systems. This happens through the proper, efficient workings of innate intelligence.
