As a health care consumer, you have a choice. Most of us, if we were fully informed of our options, would choose wellness and prevention as our primary strategy. We would want disease detection and treatment to be our number two option. I have found that people are hungry to find proactive, preventive healthcare.
Do you believe that the body is capable of managing its own affairs? Or do you believe that we are an inferior design, destined for breakdown? If your faith in the body’s ability has been shaken, I don’t blame you. As a society, we are becoming sicker instead of healthier. But don’t think that this is simply due to bad luck or bad genes.
When the fish in the Great Lakes were sick and dying, did the biologists blame it on bad genes, or bad luck? No, they looked to the environment first. What was poisoning the fish? Applying this to humans, what is poisoning us? It’s our environment, our lifestyle. Sedentary living, high stress, and a nutrient-poor, toxin-ridden diet create the perfect storm for disease. Identify and remove the toxic and deficient elements from your lifestyle, and you improve your health status. This is the true definition of wellness and prevention.
We are all consumers of health care, whether we choose to be or not. Will you choose wellness, prevention, and health care – or detection, treatment, and disease care?
